We are very pleased to offer our 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe. well equipped with 150 bhp, 346 cu. in. 90-degree L-head V8 engine with hydraulic lifters, Stromberg carburetor,4 Speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, independent front suspension via coil springs and wishbones, and rear suspension via longitudinal semi-elliptic leaf springs and Hotchkiss semi-floating rear axle, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Finished in Black with Black and Green leather interior and a Black Canvas Cloth Top piped in green trim a truly stunning combination.
Admired when it was first unveiled, the 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe possessed a style and grace that is seldom seen in motor cars and that has aged extremely well, with the result that these cars have been among the most sought after Classics throughout the years. Just 3,100 were built, and sadly, most did not survive.
The bold, flat, chromed grille and domed hood dominated the new look. Two new styling concepts were introduced – a horizontal valance enclosing the space between the bodywork and bumpers and the front fender windsplit creases that began at the headlamps and extended horizontally back along each side of the body. A revised Goddess of Speed mascot was mounted on top, where she also serves as the hood release.
The Cadillac Series 62 presented here is fitted with a 4 speed hydra-matic automatic transmission – the very first year Cadillac offered such an option. This fully restored and meticulously maintained 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe has benefited from a recent professional frame off restoration (completed around 2000); it is painted black and fitted with a two tone leather interior in black with dark green accents and door panels, as well as a black Haartz top piped in the same green leather. The car is well equipped, featuring a heater, radio, power antenna, power top, rear wheel skirts, and whitewall tires with chrome wheel covers. All Series 62 Convertibles were fitted with Deluxe equipment.
The quality of the restoration is attested to by its 2001 AACA National First Prize Award and most importantly, the condition of the car today, with the paint showing no signs of aging, excellent brightwork and stunning chrome and trim, and glass. Panel fits remain exemplary, particularly in the doors and decklid. Underhood detailing is exquisite, with correct wiring, hoses, clamps, fasteners and other small parts. The car was acquired by very prominent collector in 2005 and has been maintained by his staff of mechanics ever since. The car is ready to be shown on the concours circuit or to simply enjoy a drive with the top down knowing this is one of the finest 1941 Cadillac Convertible's in existence.
