In 1956 Dodge entered the factory hot rod sweepstakes by introducing the hemi-powered D500 chassis. On January 12, 1956 as a mid-year option, Dodge made available the maximum duty race-equipped D500-1 chassis with numerous performance upgrades including a double four-barrel carbureted 315ci/295hp Hemi engine. As another mid year introduction Dodge debuted the Special Edition Golden Lancer which were equipped with numerous factory upgrades.Some of the Golden Lancers came equipped with D500 powerplant and performance upgrades. This Golden Lancer is one of those cars.
