Crevier Classic Cars is pleased to offer from our private collection this 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible. Ford began production of its ‘pony car’ in the mid 1964 model year. Championed by Ford General Manager Lee Iacoca, the Mustang was an instant success. Available initially as a coupe or a convertible, with a low starting price and a large choice of colors and options, the Mustang sold faster than Ford had ever hoped. It caught all of the other major auto manufacturers by surprise. It was so popular that through the 1965 model year the Mustang sold 680,989 units, its first year ! It remains one of the most collectible and instantly recognizable classic cars worldwide.
This particular example was manufactured October 29th, 1964 at the San Jose, CA plant and sold to its original owner. She owned the car from 1964-2008. We purchased the Mustang from the original Southern California owner. An elderly woman who had owned the car from new, and cared for the Mustang like it was a member of the family. The car was always garaged, highly maintained and never involved in an accident. When we first inspected the car with the idea of restoring it for our private collection, we were amazed at how well cared for the car was. The original floor pans remained in virtually new untouched condition as did the frame and all original sheet-metal. We began a full and professional restoration. The original 225hp A Code motor was completely disassembled and rebuilt. All aspects of the car were gone through. The mustang is well equipped with power steering, power convertible top, full console, automatic transmission, heater, AM radio, wire wheel covers, dual exhaust and more. The car is a show worthy example that is ready for both the show field and the open road. It is an amazingly straight, tight, and solid example. It is a very rare find indeed to come across a one owner southern California Mustang with such great history. A true icon among classic cars. Please ask us for more details on this fantastic Mustang.
