1997 BMW 540i Sport VIN # WBADE5328VBV92544 DESCRIPTION: 836 Actual miles Getrag six-speed manual transmission M-Technic tuned suspension 0-60 mph is only 5.6 seconds 17-inch Sport wheels Built between 1995 and 2003, the E39 was BMWs fourth generation of 5-series sedans and touring wagons. Prior to the introduction of the M5 in 1998, the 540i was the fastest sport sedan available in this series and was one of the heavy hitters in its class, competing primarily with the Mercedes E-Class and the Audi A6. The most sought-after variant of the 540i was Sport version, which featured aggressive 17-inch three-piece wheels wrapped in 235/45ZR17 tires and, most importantly, a proper Getrag six speed manual gearbox from the 850 CSI (itself an M8 in all but name) Drivers were also treated to M-Technic tuned suspension components, including 20-millimeter- shorter springs, larger diameter anti-roll bars and tauter shock valving. With a 4.4-liter DOHC V8, the 540i Sport could sprint from rest to 60mph in just 5.6 seconds &ndash much faster than its competitor, the E420/430 Mercedes and only about a half second slower than its successor, the almighty M5. Here was a true Autobahn rocket, intended for going 150+ mph all day long yet perfectly capable of handling day-to-day city traffic. This particular 540i Sport is virtually brand new with only 836 original miles and just one owner from new. Finished in Jet Black with a grey leather interior, it is equipped with optional Comfort Seats and Premium Hi-Fi system.
