Only 3|692 Sportsman convertible were produced by the Ford Motor Company between 1946 and 1947| with a very few being titled as 1948 models. The body numbers were stamped on the firewall on all Sportsmen. Hard Maple from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Mahogany from the Philippines were used to produce the wood bodies| a craft perfected by Ford through years of building station wagons and depot hacks. All Sportsmen had power windows and a power top| as well as a leather interior. Reportedly| there are fewer than 100 examples surviving today. This exceptional example was body-off rotisserie restored to the highest of standards. Finished in Glade Green with maroon leather and a black Haartz stay-fast canvas convertible top. Equipped with the original 239cid flat-head V8 and 3 speed manual transmission. The highly finished wooden structure of the vehicle is comprised of Maple and inlayed with Mahogany coated in high luster urethane to protect the finish. The Sportsman was found in the top-of-the-line Super Deluxe catalog. Far and away the most expensive Ford offered in 1947| it sold new for $2|282 dollars. Part of the Crevier Classic Car Collection| now offered for sale| and undoubtedly one of the finest Sportsman Convertible in existence. A proven concours record of success.
